Hexxagon is a board game vaguely reminiscent of Othello. It takes place on a hexagonal grid (hence the title). Each player starts with three pieces; you can duplicate pieces by moving them to adjacent cells or have them jump to farther cells. If you move into a cell adjacent to one of you opponent's pieces, they all change color to become yours. The goal, of course, is to have the most pieces at the end.

This game is exceedingly well-done; the graphics and animations look great. The computer opponent is satisfyingly easy on the easy difficulty settings but sufficiently challenging (at least for a worthless neophyte like me) on the higher difficulties. The actual game itself is simple and open-ended enough to offer plenty of replay. Hexxagon is one of the best examples of a Software Creations release.

Perfect Even Without Sound

Sound received the lowest rating (and rightly so), but it still scored high ratings in more important categories such as "fun" and "replay". This makes it the ideal candidate for play in areas where sound is not advisable, such as high school computer science classrooms. Keep that in mind, kiddies.
