Giant Space Slug is an ancient Nibbles clone. It's so ancient, in fact, that it predated Nibbles (which was released with MS-DOS 5.0) by several years.

The plot: you, the giant space slug of the title, has to go and eat spaceships. If you touch yourself or a wall, you die. Classic stuff.

GSS differs in a few respects from the MS Nibbles we all know and love. First off, there is only one level with no walls besides the edges, which makes the game sort of boring (and incredibly difficult once the snake gets to be too long). Also, the space ships vanish after a few seconds. Finally, the author did not compensate for the decidedly non-square aspect ratio of an 80x25 text screen; hence, the snake moves twice as slowly in the horizontal direction as he does vertically. This compensates somewhat for the higher speeds on the harder difficulties.

I suppose you can't have too many worm games.
