Classic side scrolling shoot-em-up. You are Duke Nukem, a dashing orange EGA sprite who runs, jumps, and climbs through a skyscraper to hunt down the undeniably evil Dr. Proton, who is trying to take over the world or something equally nefarious. It's only natural: protons are evil; that's why they repel one another.

Duke Nukem was what taught me that life was unfair. When I blew open a prize box, expecting some goodies like tasty and nutritious poultry, refreshing soda pop, or point-laden balloons, I would be rewarded with a stick of dynamite instead. The injustice of it all made me truly sympathize with my character in his quest to slay Dr. Proton.

Trivia: for a short time Duke Nukem was called 'Duke Nukum' due to hallucinated copyright infringement.
