This is "id's original Mario-engine game", according to some experts (Kevin). The gameplay is amazingly similar to Pharaoh's Tomb and the other Nevada Smith adventures. That is not a bad thing. The puzzles are challenging, the action is good, and the graphics are many a step up from the Smith series (VGA!). The sound is just dandy for something emitting from the PC speaker, and although the game alludes to some sort of AdLib-type sound, I have yet to find a way to enable it (I gave this game an extra point for sound because it prompted my physics teacher to reset my computer while I was goofing off in class). The control of Dave, your character, has that one telltale characteristic of a classic side-scroller: the ability to completely control your position in mid-flight.
There are also some fun powerups like the pistol and the jetpack. Actually, I'm pretty sure those are the only powerups.
It's really entertaining, very challenging, and the download is mighty small. Mmm, satisfying!

Dangerous Dave Noise
I would like to make a coment on the subject of Dangerous Daves noise capability. It has been brought to my attention from ... Well ... myself that Dangerous Dave does have series of primitive beeps and boops when you jump, fall, shoot, and use your jet pack. So when you listed on your ratings that it didn't have a sound I was wondering if those boops and beeps I heard where classified as sounds.Your truly,
