Huzzah for French speaking developers! We have what is possibly the best fighting game ever made in Quebec. Filled with strange characters and stranger dialogue, Zulula is a triumph of creativity over programming knowhow.

Gameplay is similar to that of Executioners, but you fight in an arena like in OMF 2097. You create a character from one of 16 races. The possible races include humans, walking eyeballs, the undead, snake people, and... ostriches. The shareware version of Zulula offers both single-fight and tournament modes.

There is only one sound effect, which is the "Whoosh" sound created when you jump, kick, punch, slash, or die; however, the game features catchy but soothing Adlib music. It's great to mellow out while frantically whipping your tail at an anthropomorphic eyeball.

The game is filled with floating pyramids, anachronous information booths, and weird between-fight dialogue written by people whose command of the English language is not exactly strong. For example:

Human Fighter: Ha ha ha, I don't think so birdy.

Ostrich: I'll bick you to death!

This is an odd little game that would be horribly dull if it weren't for its mindboggling surrealism.
