What we have here is a very well done action game which is--get this--different from other action games. The interface is really what was so different for its time. It's a side-scroller, and you keep one hand on the arrow keys to move the character. The other hand is on the mouse, which you use to aim and fire your gun in any direction around you.

For an action shooter, the game is fast as hell. You run and fly around, blasting the hell out of mutants in a high-tech facility. Bear in mind that when I say fast, I mean almost Jazz Jackrabbit fast.

Keep in mind that this is not some mindless frag-fest, either. The level design borders on genius, and there are lots of puzzles to solve while you blast your way through bioengineered baddies. Of course, none of the puzzles are particularly hard, but they're just engaging enough for you to be caught off guard by an onslaught of genetic monsters.

The game also does well in the technical aspects. It has ultra-smooth graphics and nice sound effects. There's even a Windows port available for all the heathens. No, I'm not telling you where to find it.
